Faith becomes like gold when tried in the fire
when you struggle, are afraid, and go against desire
When you struggle to do what's right, even in the midst of pain
you press the tide, walk backwards, and strain against the grain
When gold is tested its purest form emerges through
when you are tested, you go through fire, what's left is the best of you
What you are at the beginning is not what you'll be in the end
Peter said he'd never betray Jesus and that he'd always be his friend
When tested, Peter failed, and cried,
he couldn't believe it, he did what he said he wouldn't, he lied
Jesus told Peter that he was going to betray him,
he said that before the rooster crowed he'd turn his back on him
Peter did fall but without the test where would he be
he wouldn't be his best self, and possibly not with God eternally
Because of the test, Peter's patience grew and grew
even though he failed a few times and forgot what he knew
When your faith is tested, thank God because he's giving you patience forever
to emerge pure and refined
better, better, better than ever
In John 17, Jesus prays for His disciples who have been brought out of the world only to be sent back into the world as God's very own light. Jesus told one of His disciples, Peter, that "satan desires to have you to sift you as wheat, yet I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not, and when thou art converted, Peter, then stregnthen thy brother.'
Bro Rhodes lesson, the 'Trial of Your Faith', focuses on the end of our being tested. Following firey trials, we emerge purer, better, and more patient. Bro Rhodes focused on the purest state of gold that emerges only after going through the toughest fiercest trial of fire.
