Why Grieve the Loss of a Loved One

When we lose a loved one, an internal scar appears within that we cannot see. In short, when we grieve our loved one; the tears, the pain we feel, is actually healing the internal wound. Grieving is a process. We should give ourselves all the time we need to experience grief; and also express it in whatever way that we need. We should allow the tears to roll no matter where we are; we should give in to times of expression when someone asks that question "how are you?" We should be honest. We should allow ourselves to feel the pain that comes down on us when we view our loved ones memories. These are all healthy ways to experience grief and in the long run, with time, brings about healing. We all experience grief, the only mistake that is often made is not giving ourselves the liberty, the permission, to experience, the all-human emotion of grief.
