Lost or stolen driver's license? Is it time to renew your license? Do you want to avoid that long line at the Department of Public Safety office? Do you want to avoid the wait list for the next available appointment at the local DPS? Wait for it.. 1. always keep a current copy of your driver's license handy. Store it electronically. Store it in a physical file. If and when you ever need to replace your license there is a long 16 digit number at the bottom of your photo or next to your photo. This string of numbers is extremely important. It is called the audit number. With this number, it takes less than 5 minutes to simply reorder your ID online.
